Now that "Shrek: the musical" is over I have been taking a a breather from drama for a bit. Then along comes two voice actor jobs! The first is from Audiblebooks. They are doing a dramatization of "The Debt Con$piracy". I will be reading for 4 or 5 parts and sending those auditions to them in the next week. The next is a voice acting contest. There are 6 or 7 vignettes to choose from. I have to play all the characters. (2 to 3). If i am chosen, the audio will be featured on their we My first published work, "reflect shuns in a broken mirror" will be re-published uncut with a new title and new cover and a more affordable price. a large variety of beat poetry from my teen years on up. The new working title is "the broken mirror reflected: a new version of old beats". This will be available from amazon. The directors said that i was a good character actor, but weren't sure if i had enough strength in singing to support the role. So they gave me one more shot to prove i could do it. Thankfully, after a shady deal in a parking lot of some rural bar and grill, i secured the soundtrack and that's all i listened to until last night. I was afraid of a few things. I wanted the part, but i also wanted this to be a GREAT musical for the troupe. I didn't want to come off as amatuerish. So i had to really soul search on it. Then after an outpouring of support from friends and family and people willing to help me and coach me on their own time i decided to try it. i tried out last night. I sang a few songs from the soundtrack that i'm comfortable with. They offered me the part of "Shrek" the ogre. I've never been more excited! Auditioned this weekend for "The Blue Earth Town and Country Players" for their 2013 summer musical "Shrek: the musical". Urged on by my kids, i auditioned at their casting call over the weekend. I am always intimidated with musicals because most people there are seasoned musical vets and can read music. I have always gone by ear. But the musica director Mike Ellingson is so good at making people comfortable and i sang "Guys and Dolls" for the audition. I also read for the part of Shrek, Donkey and Lord Farquaad. I am hoping for the part of Shrek, but there are so many other talented people who have auditioned for the part as well so crossing my fingers! Finally, came up with a title for the new book. It's a Bible verse that describes a zombie apocalypse better than anything else i could find. It is an expansion and re-write of the short story "The Last Stronghold" which is featured in "Midnight Snacks: a horror anthology". I had got a lot of feedback from friends wanting a back story to that one, and then some more as to what happens after "last stronghold". So in a way, it's a prequel and sequel all wrapped up into one. To date i am typing away at Chapter 12. I don't know how far that is, because i have no idea how this will end. But out of all the books in my brain, this is the one shouting the loudest and threatening to eat said brain if it doesn't get finished. That being said, i should have this done by June of this year. I'll keep you all posted as time progresses. **ALSO!!! a BIG thank you to all of you who have ordered "midnight snacks" on kindle and in paperback! the support is overwhelming. blessings and hugs, cheers and boo-yahs! Like daughter like father. My lovely daughter has published herself her first novel. "paul". It's hard for me to believe such words come from a 15 year old. Normally, i would put my creative friends under "other crazed bastards"; but i can't very well call my own baby a 'crazed bastard'. "Paul DuFresne is an insecure, troubled teenage boy who has been out of high school for roughly half of a year, and remains to live at his torturous, agonistic home without any existent plans or abilities to partake in a regular, traditional future, let alone does he believe he can escape his tyrannical, moralistic mother's desperate, anchoring pull. Through months of attempted escape, Paul is literally trapped in his own bedroom with major injuries, a lack of medical assistance to heal his open wounds and broken bones, and most importantly, a throbbing, suicidal mind state. Helpless as he may be at the very top of a skyscraping Saint Anthony Bridge one winter night, a truly flabbergasting—yet charismatically ravishing—young man snatches Paul's trembling arm from his chest, just as he had brought up the knife. Through years of selfless sustain and undying fidelity, Paul's entire existence becomes suddenly altered—and turned around for the better—at the mere instant of Avery Allen's presence, providing him with just the pacification he needed, a simple pinch of self-confidence, and merely a few frivolous trips to the local pharmacy in Omaha, Nebraska. From the moment his amorous companion pushed his wheelchair optimistically up that first ramp, to the second they'd whispered those passionate, benevolent exchanges in the pitch black of their apartment's vicinity, Paul and Avery blissfully continue their young, adventurous lives together, and never to be separated, at least as they'd assumed." Click on the photo for a link on how to order, or just go to the "stalker info" and i can pull some strings to get you a discount. This one has enough possibilities in it to be a novel. Think present day "waterworld" with...actually, don't think "waterworld" that was a horrible movie. Let's just give you the gist of it: A solar flare has wiped out electronics and any modern communication. On top of all that, the polar ice caps have melted and all the fault lines in the world have shook the Earth causing Tsunamis and flooding. over 80% of the United States is under water.
One family in New Orleans who've weathered floods many times before; ride out the storms and soon realize the the flood waters are not receding and are actually rising. They try to make their way to the midwest where it has been rumored to have dry land large enough to support the survivors of the United States. But on their journey they find that the human race has become a tribal system, and when human beings are in "survival mode", they are capable of any amount of brutality. An author traveling the back roads of the midwest comes upon a strange woman and her mentally disturbed 12 year old daughter. It's a scortching 107 degrees and he pulls over to offer them a ride.
She's toothless and a bit mentally challenged and as the conversation progresses, she begins making crazy advances towards him along with saying some hidden threats. As this disturbing conversation ensues, the daughter curls into a ball and begins wailing at the top of her lungs. Refusing to get out of his car, and insisting on giving him "payment", this turns into the ride from hell. Still in the development stages, obviously, but sketching together some details and doing some buku research on the Necronomicon.
So far, the idea is in several areas of the world wormholes are opening up as the stars lock into place to unleash the sleeping "Great Old Ones" mentioned in the book "Necronomicon" or "Al Azif" which gained it's popularity by H.P. Lovecraft. In a way this is my homage to the old horror master and i'm hoping to do him some justice. A cult in New Zealand holds a ritual ceremony and conjures up "The Dream Witch" who absorbs the cults leader and takes the souls of the rest. Her main goal will be to release the "Outer Gods" to prepare the way for Nyarthotep. A biblical archeologist finds a page of Al Azif bound in mummified flesh as well as the bones of an ancient cult. Given strict orders to halt his research and to give up his artifacts, he goes on his own rogue search to solve this mystery religion. A physicist in Geneva opens up a wormhole accidentally with the Large Hargon Collider and is not able to collapse it. The research facility wants to study it, the physicist wants to close it because there is something dangerous about it. A Coast Guard Cutter receives an old distress signal from the Bermuda Triangle. They arrive and find a boat that has been missing since the 1800's. They find one survivor who hasn't aged at all and is muttering insanely about aliens and demons. As the rescue progresses the survivor ages drastically and turns into a husk. In the meantime, missing planes fall from the sky and missing boats appear all around them; and something is coming out of the mists. In New Orleans, while out in the Bayou with her artist friends camping, creatures begin appearing out of the swamps. |
